I went to St. Augustine with my family last week. We saw a lot of cool things, like 500 year old cannons. My sisters and brother and I had fun climbing on them. The cannons were in a large park in the center of town.
Around the center of town there was lots of shops and restaurants. My brother kept running ahead of us down the narrow streets, but slowed us down on the bigger busy streets. We walked around for a long time, and saw interesting things in the store windows. We got hungry so we went to Pizza Time. The slices were huge!!
After that we walked around again and looked at lots of stuff in the windows. My brother was hard to manage, because we forgot his stroller. We finally went back to the car and decided to go to the beach. The beach was over the Loin’s Bridge.
My brother fell asleep in the car on the way, so my dad stayed in the car with him to let him sleep. My sisters and mom and I went to beach when they were in the car.
When my brother woke up, we went to the Ripley’s Art Museum, which was my favorite part of the trip. The first thing we saw was a faucet floating with water coming out of it. We figured there was a tube in the water stream with the water coming back up.
The Ripley’s Art Museum had a couple of neat illusions. One was a machine that you put your hands on the ends of a board while you looked at a red dot with swirls around it. After a few seconds you would look at the palms or your hands and you’d see swirls on your hands. It was really weird.
When we were on the second floor, we saw a girl getting her picture taken by a boy. After a couple of minutes they hadn’t moved. Everyone else must have noticed, too. So we went over to them and they were actually fake. I wanted to stand next to the girl for a long time, so people would think I was part of the statue.
Another display was a life size statue of a person that didn’t leave their room for years. They were really fat. Next to it was a body without a head and you could stand inside and put your head where their head should be. It was like a fat suit. My dad lifted up my brother up and it was very funny.
There was a shadow camera in a room. You would pose in front of a wall and push a button to take a picture. It was very bright and your shadow would stay on the wall and disappeared when the next person took a picture. My sister pretended to punch in the shadow and you could see it in the shadow.
On the way out of the museum was a room that spun with a bridge that you walked across. It was the first time that illusion tripped me up. I was actually holding on for dear life.
